  • Senior Center Members Will Create Capitol Christmas Tree Ornaments
    The Pennsylvania Department of Aging (PDA) is issuing its annual invitation to senior center members to begin creating handmade Christmas ornaments to adorn the 2009 Capitol Christmas Tree that will grace the State Capitol Rotunda from early December through early January.   (11/02/09)

  • Local Enrollment Meetings Set to Help Select Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan
    Older Pennsylvanians and other Medicare beneficiaries are being encouraged by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging to attend local enrollment meetings designed to help them choose a federal Medicare Part D prescription drug plan.   (11/21/08)

    Property taxes and rent are among two of the biggest expenses for most Pennsylvania families. But there is assistance available for qualifying senior citizens to recoup some of this expense through the Commonwealth’s Property Tax and Rent Rebate program.

    02/22/10 - Sen. Jeff Piccola (R-15) joined the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition in urging taxpayers to donate all or a portion of their tax refund to breast cancer and cervical cancer research. When you file your state tax return, citizens are encouraged to check off line 35 of the PA tax form 40 to donate. Allan Lipton, a researcher at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, was chosen as one of the recipients of a research grant made possible by the check-off program.
